You gotta see this!

So it's late at night. You're flipping thru the channels and are having a mighty hard time trying to find something to watch. Then you come upon it. There are certain movies that as you are flipping around you stumble across and simply have to watch 'em, nay, it's your duty to watch.

Doesn't matter if you own the DVD (then again, how many times do you really watch a DVD after you buy it?!?) you just have to watch the movie on t.v. sitting there zombified in the late night darkened living room.

This happened to me. The other night I was up far later then I should have been feeding Fox and channel surfing.

I don't remember what channel is was, but one of my favorite movies you have to stop and watch was on -- 13th Warrior. I'm not an Antonio Bandaras fan by any means, and as soon as it gets to the middle the movie gets really boring until you get to the end - then it gets really good again. But it was a really, really good movie.

I don't know what Viking casting agency the production company used, but that flick has some of the COOLEST looking nordic folk... EVER.

Ok. Other movies that I have to stop and watch when they come on t.v.

Pretty in Pink (come for the fashion, stay for the music)

Flashdance (Again, cool music)
The Ten Commandments ( The Cecil B. Demille version. C'mon, show some love for Edward G. Robinson. A gangster guy in Egypt. Who'd a think it?)
Any Charlie Brown special
Naked Gun
Purple Rain Prince. Need we say more?
The Day After Tomorrow ok, really REALLY bad science, but it's a fun movie. For some reason, I really like it and have to watch it when it comes on tv.

Fact of the Day: April Fools' Day

There are several explanations for the origin of April Fools' Day, but here is the most plausible one. April 1st was once New Year's Day in France. In 1582, Pope Gregory declared the adoption of his Gregorian calendar to replace the Julian calendar and New Year's Day was officially changed to January 1st. It took awhile for everyone in France to hear the news of this major change and others obstinately refused to accept the new calendar, so a lot of people continued to celebrate New Year's Day on the first of April - earning them the name "April fools." The April fools were subjected to ridicule and practical jokes and the tradition was born. The butts of
these pranks were first called poisson d'avril or "April fish" because a young naive fish is easily caught. A common practice was to hook a paper fish on the back of someone as a joke. This evolved over time and a custom of prank-playing continues on the first day of April.

Eventually they do sleep....right?

So The Girl has gotten into this mode where she sneaks into our room about 3:00 every night. Sometimes earlier. Sometimes later. Sometimes she silent, other times she's wailing from a nightmare she's semi-awake from.
But either way, in bed she climbs.
How The Girl sees in the dark house to find our room, we'll never know. But her supergirl night vision allows her to find us.
Most nights she just hogs the whole queen sized bed. Somehow she wedges herself between us. Then begins the tossing and turning...she shifts position so many times. A couple times she's woken us up as she lays her feet across Barry and her head on my tummy and pushes--still asleep. Really pushes! Barry ends up jammed up against his side of the bed, and I practically get pushed OUT of bed.
Other nights, she climbs into bed with us and wants to play. Bounce. Bounce. Bounce on the waterbed. Or have us get her water. Grrrr.
But luckily we both strangely enough don't mind. I treasure the extra cuddle time. And how can you complain when you awaken in the mornings because your daughter is gently stroking your cheek?
